COVID-19 - Pray for the end of this pandemic. Pray for the scientists working on treatments, or vaccines. Pray for healthcare workers on the frontlines. Pray for all those afflicted, that they would be healed, but also that they would turn to the Lord in these dark hours. Pray for those under quarantine, that the extra time would give them an opportunity to consider their need for Jesus.
For Such a Time as This- Pray that this hour of pandemic becomes the Church’s finest hour. That we not shrink back in fear and self- preservation, but genuinely serve and care for those in need. Pray for wise, innovative and collaborative, outreach initiatives to be launched through uniting many churches who serve the same neighborhoods. Pray for Church leaders to model a proactive, faith-filled posture.
Peace - Intercede for the Church in Canada to walk in radical peace in this hour. May the peace and presence of God, not just keep us, but be a glorious testimony to those around us of the reality and care of our God. Contend for those struggling with anxiety — that the presence of God would overwhelm them.
The Jesus Fast Meets Lent - Tens of thousands in the Charismatic world are in the midst of the Jesus Fast, asking the Lord for a release of world-wide evangelism — while, at the same time —millions are also fasting because it is the season of Lent, (which is a fast of repentance). What a powerful combination! Pray that the Lord hears both these cries and releases repentance and evangelism globally — unto revival!
Seniors - The most vulnerable people in this season are our seniors. They are the ones who live off of investment income (which has just been dramatically reduced) and who are high risk for complications if they catch the COVID-19 virus. Pray for compassionate, Spirit-led outreach to be focused on our seniors. May thousands discover the love of God in their last years.
Activate Prayer - Intercede for a new awakening and activation of prayer all though the fabric of the Canadian Church. Contending prayer always precedes revival, but it’s prayer that is utterly yielded to God’s will, not insisting on our own.
United to Christ - Stand in the gap for unity in the Body of Christ. Our nation is more fractured than ever, but this creates a backdrop for the supernatural unity of the Church to bring glory of God. Pray that our unity would be genuinely centred on Jesus, rather than a “Babel” unity with the goal of merely gaining power (see Gen 11:4).
Light - “Let there be light!” Pray for the light of God to shine bringing revelation and truth into the Church. Pray that we would walk in the light, with humility and transparency so that we can have healthy fellowship with one another (1Jn 1:5-10).
Prisoners - Cry out for those who are incarcerated in our prison system, but also for those who are in various other “prisons”, where they feel trapped without anyone to deliver them. This could include those struggling with mental illness, demonic torment, seemingly hopeless financial situations or even in abusive relationships. Pray for the great Deliverer to meet them in their need.
Alberta - Continue to intercede for Alberta. Contend that the Lord would turn what the enemy has meant for evil to good and for the salvation of many (Gen 50:20). Pray for an authentic awakening of spiritual hunger to sweep the province. May Alberta lead the nation into a powerful move of God.
Iran- The Lord is calling the Canadian Church to step into our gift of ministering healing to the nations by supporting Iran in intercession right now. Pray for the Church in Iran, that God will open doors that have been previously closed to the gospel. Pray for protection, the outpouring of the Spirit with the release of gifts, signs and wonders. Pray that the move of God that is already happening will explode so the Iranian Church becomes God's vessel for extraordinary national transformation. Click to find out more.
Rezone, Renovate, Restructure - Pray for the Canadian Church as many of our structures are in the midst of “renovations”. Intercede that we won’t cling to the old, outdated ways that we have become sentimentally attached to. Cry out for wisdom to know what God wants to change and what is a “load-bearing wall” that must remain. Pray for peace and faith for all in this process.
Recovery of Sight - Intercede for all those whose spiritual eyes have gown dim. Ask Jesus to open our eyes in a way that sets our hearts ablaze, as He did with the disciples on the road to Emmaus. (Lu 24:30-32) Also intercede for those who have wandered far from God, pray that they will see Jesus, His love and goodness, with fresh revelation.
Suffering - Stand in the gap for those walking through deep places of suffering. Pray not just for the suffering to end, but for the most precious work of the Spirit to be done as they walk through this fire. Pray that they will know the presence and sustaining grace of God, grow in dependance and intimacy with Him, and be strengthened by joy.
Vessels of Honour - This is a time where the Lord is calling the Church into holiness (see Patricia King word). Let’s agree with God in this, and lean into this in prayer. Pray for a new lifestyle of growing in holiness in our desires, attitudes and motives as well as words and behaviors. Pray that we would be set free from the influence of the world.
Christmas - Pray for the season of Christmas to become a tremendous opportunity for evangelism. From kid’s concerts to family dinners and special services, pray that the gospel rings out with clarity while the Presence of God melts hearts. Intercede for heavy, sin-weary hearts to turn to Christ all over Canada.
Humility - The Lord is prophetically speaking to the Church about humility through a multitude of different voices. “He dwells with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit to revive the spirit of the lowly and revive the heart of the contrite “(Isa 57:15), so let us contend for authentic humility to become a feature of the Canadian Church, positioning us for revival.
Holiness & the Fear of the Lord - In keeping with the word that Patrica King is releasing, stand in the gap and pray for a beautiful awakening of holiness to sweep the Canadian Church. Pray for a longing for the “inside of the cup” to be clean, rather than just external behaviours.
Healing - Seek the Lord for healing to burst froth in this season. Heart, soul, mind, body and relationships— Jesus heals! Renew your prayer for those who have had long standing ailments and “impossible” conditions. He who made us from the dust, is able to remake anything that needs restoration. Nothing is impossible for God.
Open Doors - Knock in prayer, on doors to effective ministry that have remained shut. Knock boldly, this is a time for new opportunities and expansion. Don’t look for personal promotion, but promotion of the name and fame of Jesus throughout the nation.
Joy - Pray for the Church in Canada to abound in joy. May it be an irrepressible joy that is deep, Jesus-focused and that lifts our eyes to see Him. May joy empower us with strength to endure challenges and trials and mark us as His — the One who was anointed with joy above His fellows (Heb 1:9).
Beauty for Ashes Part II — We continue to contend for Alberta’s calling to be a unique place in Canada, a place which has known devastation and even humiliation, but now is poised for a mighty move of God. Whatever province you are from, stand with the Church in Alberta in this hour. Don’t let political strife colour your prayers. Pray that they know the love of the Body of Christ and an extraordinary grace from the Father. (Read the original call to prayer - scroll down to May 2016).
Compassion - Intercede for the softening of the hearts of the people of God in our nation. The world is becoming more calloused and judgmental, may we move in the opposite spirit. Pray for the Church to have eyes to see the marginalized and misunderstood. Pray for our hearts to overflow with the love of God, activating us in intercession, generosity, and action.
Leaders - Seek the Lord for the raising up and protection of new leaders of every age in the Body of Christ. May many with leadership gifts and callings now be identified and discipled. May they be well qualified, Christlike in character, and committed to serve rather than looking for platform.
Unity- In prayer, close the Church’s door to the spirit of division that is seeking to pit regions, races, generations, and political affiliations against each other. Pray that this spirit has no ability to gain inroads in the Church but rather that we live in unity of the spirit, in humility considering each other’s interests rather than just our own. Pray for a beautiful increase of a spirit of unity in each local church, as well as throughout denominations and networks. All true Christian unity is biblically orthodox, holding to the authority of scripture.
Election / New Government - Join your prayers with thousands of others from the Church in Canada to intercede for the outcome of the Federal Election. As the votes are counted, turn your prayers to the new government, the choice of cabinet, advisors, and policy priorities.
Revival of Prophetic - Numerous prophetic dreams indicate the Lord’s desire to revive and purify the prophetic in our nation. It is a time to pick up the prophetic sound of the early church, a time for the healing of those with prophetic gifts, and a time for a glorious increase of prophetic revelation. Many are declaring this is the “year of the mouth”— may we speak forth the word of the Lord!
Bible - The battle between truth and deception is continuing to rage. No longer is scripture seen as the ultimate authority in all Christian circles. Cry out for a movement of deep devotion to the written Word of God to spread throughout the Canadian Church. Pray that we would be saturated, formed and sanctified by the Bible.
Immigrant Communities Many immigrant communities in Canada have a high percentage of Christians, however others are committed to other faiths and are quite resistant to the gospel. Both of these groups need prayer! For those who have immigrated to this nation as Christians— may they be bold in their witness. For those who are a part of Buddhist, Sikh, Muslim or Hindu communities— that they would be open and hungry to learn about Jesus.
Shift into Mission - Stand in the gap for the Canadian Church to reorient towards living out the mission of Jesus rather than just being safe and secure in our church communities. Pray for repentance to touch our hearts where we have been indifferent. Pray that every congregation begins to pray, serve and proclaim the gospel with an expectation that God will move.
Election - Pray for the Lord to have His way in the outcome of the current federal election. Pray for the Church to be engaged, active, prayerful and walking in an “opposite spirit” of the spirit of the world. Pray for our eyes and trust to remain on Jesus. Check out these national ministries give leadership to prayer for this election: Pray Canada / My Canada / NHOP.
Clear Eyes - "If the eye is bad, the whole body is full of darkness." (Mt 6: 23) Pray for the sight of the Church t0 be healthy and unhindered by “logs”: wounds, error or distortions. Pray that the prophetic and teaching ministries of the Church be sources of light for the Body of Christ.
Dig Canals- Contend in prayer for the Church to be prepared for revival. Intercede that we would not take shortcuts in our discipleship or in building healthy churches so we are able to serve a great ingathering, steward a great outpouring. (see prophetic word)
Compassion - Cry out for the Body of Christ to see the harvest and be moved with compassion. Not just moved emotionally, but moved to prayer and moved to take action. Intercede for a great activation of mission and a Spirit-empowered proclamation of the gospel all through Canada. My we be ones that “cannot but tell.”
Encouragement - Pray for a widespread activation of the spiritual ministry of encouragement. Ask the Lord for encouragement that is impactful and life giving at a deep level, not just shallow, “pep talk” words, even if well intended. May Spirit-anointed encouragement break demonic assignments of heaviness, defeat and even despair.
Election - Lift your voice to the Lord to pray for the upcoming federal election. Pray for wise, godly, qualified candidates to be elected. Pray for integrity, the rule of law and civility to return where that has been eroded.
Meekness - Intercede for meekness, (that fruit of the Spirit which is necessary for revival to be sustained) to grow in the Church. Pray that the Lord will wash us of all self-promotion and pride.
Awakened Prayer- Receive the fresh breath of the Spirit to awaken prayer in your life and in your church! Pray for the Church to lean in to new grace-filled disciplines, believing for the increase of the Spirit of Prayer.
Family- Pray for Christian families to be strengthened in every area of need or weakness. Pray that they will be alive spiritually, filled with the word and the work of the Spirit. Pray that they will be missional and naturally, visibly, living out their witness.
Behold I do a new thing- Many new things are coming this fall, pray that we will clearly discern and embrace all the Lord wants to do. Pray for those that are in transitional times that require faith and waiting. Contend that we don’t get stuck in old paradigms, old mindsets, and stay married to outdated ways because they are familiar.
Leadership- Independence, lawlessness and distrust of authority are rampant in our culture and the Church is often tempted with these attitudes as well. Pray for the Canadian Church to be joyfully submitted to Jesus and willing to submit in healthy ways to the leaders He’s appointed in His Church. Pray for these leaders to be skilled, godly, healthy and love like He does
Universities- Contend for our Universities to be the seedbeds of revival! Pray for unity between campus ministry organizations, for an awakening of campus prayer movements, and for new, strategic missions initiatives. Pray for all Christian students and faculty preparing for the fall.
End Abortion- Pray for the hearts of Canadians to be softened towards the unborn. Pray that the lies which have diminished the humanity of the unborn collapse and for a widespread turning of public opinion on this issue. Pray for the Church to be mindful of the high percentage of women who have had abortions and to treat them with grace and God’s love.
The Mind of Christ- This is a summer of receiving strategy. Pray for meekness and a corporate seeking of Jesus’s ways. Let His thoughts become our thoughts. Pray for His wisdom to infuse the Church.
Unity- Pray for God to do the miraculous work of rebuilding His people into unity. Thank Him for every baby step in this direction, pray for much more. Pray that the call towards unity becomes more compelling than protecting our differences.
Discipleship - Pray for the Canadian Church that we would seek to be disciples of Jesus in all areas of our lives. Pray for a shift away from “consumer Christianity”, where we simply look for ways to be blessed, while our lives are left untouched by the power of the Gospel.
First Nations - As we celebrate National Aboriginal Day this month, let’s join with our First Nations brothers and sisters to contend for revival to visit every reserve in Canada. Let’s also pray for increase of healing and unity between natives and non-natives in Christ.
Camps - Summer camps and kid’s day camps are powerful ministries to bring children and teens to faith. Intercede for these programs to be abundantly fruitful this year. Pray for those that will attend who are either not Christians yet, or who are struggling in their faith, that God will powerfully meet them.
Neighbourhood Mission - Stand in the gap for the Body of Christ to be great neighbours, wherever they live. Pray for a heightened awareness of our neighbours and for revelation of innovative ways to reach out. Pray for the power of hospitality. Pray for the Holy Spirit to fall upon entire neighbourhoods.
Intimacy - Intercede for all those in the Body of Christ who have grown dry, cold or distant from God. But also intercede that we all would be drawn closer to Him. May there be a glorious renewal of first love for all of us, going deeper than ever before into communion with the Lord.
